šŸš€ Best Practices for New Pinterest Accounts

  1. Warm-up with the Pinterest Native Scheduler (a recommended precaution)
Many experienced Pinterest users advise starting with a period of lower activity—pinning a handful of posts daily—using Pinterest’s native scheduler.

This isn’t a requirement, but rather a precaution that may help prevent your new account from being incorrectly flagged by Pinterest’s spam detection systems. There is no official rule from Pinterest mandating a warm-up, yet this practice is widely recommended by users as a safety measure. Pinterest’s engineering blog made some remarks in this regard.

    Suggested approach:
    • Start with 5–10 pins per day, spaced over several days or weeks.
    • Gradually increase volume as the account demonstrates consistent, varied engagement.
    • Keep activity moderate to indicate that your behavior is organic and help avoid temporary rate limits or automated flags.

2. Use High-Quality Media

  • Ensure your pins are of a high quality and provide useful images and text for users.
  • Publicly hosted media URLs (ending in .jpg, .png, .mp4) are required.
  • Videos also need a valid ā€œThumbnailā€ column in the CSV

3. Craft Rich Metadata

  • Stick to character limits: Titles ≤ 100, Descriptions ≤ 500
  • Add 5–10 relevant, comma-separated keywords in the keywords column. You can search for good keywords using Pin Generator’s Pinterest keyword research tool or using the keyword selector in the sidebar of the generate page.

4. Schedule Carefully

  • Set scheduled dates up to 30 days ahead via the native scheduler or one-at-a-time uploads
  • It has been reported that the limit for pins in a bulk CSV upload to Pinterest are between 100 and 200 pins.

5. Troubleshoot Common Errors

Some users report the Pinterest native scheduler giving them some issues.

  • Ensure column names like Media URL match exactly Pinterest’s spec (avoid ā€œMedia file URLā€),
  • Try alternate browsers or incognito if uploads fail ,
  • Lower upload batch sizes if errors persist. (try under 100 pins)
